" As a lamp in a windless place does not waver, so the transcendentalist, whose mind is controlled, remains always steady in his meditation on the transcendent Lord." - Krishna in Bhagavad-gita 6-19.
" For the soul there is never birth or death. Nor, having once been, does he ever cease to be. He is unborn, eternal, ever-existing, undying and primeval. He is not slain when the body is slain. - "Bhagavad-gita 2-20.
"What is night for all beings is the time of awakening for the self-controlled; and the time of awakening for all beings is night for the introspective sage." - Bhagavad-gita 2-69.
"One whose happiness is within, who is active within, who rejoices within and is illumined within, is actually the perfect mystic. He is liberated in the Supreme, and ultimately he attains the Supreme."
Bhagavad-gita 5-24
"It is said that one result is obtained by worshiping the supreme cause of all causes and that another result is obtained from worshiping what is not supreme... - Shree Ishopanishad, mantra 13

Whimsical Frivolity
Here is a poem by Jeff Ratner written on 3-25-10, called "Whimsical Frivolity." This is not the bonus poem in the book Journey to Ecstasy.
Whimsical frivolity
Externally seems jollity
But if one lives it daily
It soon becomes one's follity.
A lack of introspection
May explain the soul's deflection
Unchecked lack of gravity
May lead one to depravity
May our thoughts turn to the Divine
Instead of whiling away the time
In idle machinations best
Left behind with all the rest
Let us not take shelter
Of worldly helter-skelter
But in the glory and the fame
Of the Lord's most Holy Names

Proclivity to Divinity
Here is a poem written by Jeff Ratner on 5/21/10, called Proclivity to Divinity. This is not in the book.
I'm running out of time
And I'm starting to panic
Will I surrender to Krishna ?
Or will I remain frantic ?
Will I get it together ?
Or will I remain stuck ?
Floundering in worldly
Pride, lust and muck.
I hope I can make it
Because if I don't
I'll come back again soon
As an incarnate dolt.
To think that I have any prospect here
Is tantamount to relishing fear
I must rise to the plane of fearless resolve
In order this birth & death business to solve.
So I'll pray to Krishna
And Prabhupad, too
Please let me love
And serve only you.
